Custom applications and websites.

When standard software only handles a process through workarounds, a custom browser application gets built that knows exactly that process. Plus websites, from design to launch.

Example

All inspection dates in one place.

Inspection dates for machines, systems, and equipment are spread across Excel spreadsheets, calendars, and emails. What’s due next only shows up after cross-checking. The sample application brings everything together in one list.

Example of how an interface can look
  1. 1Every asset with its next inspection date in one list
  2. 2Due dates are at the top and marked
  3. 3The latest inspection report is attached to the asset

Instead of cross-checking Excel, calendar, and inbox, one list is enough.

Scope of work

What development includes.

  • Interface design

Agreed before development: which views there are and who may see what.

  • The application

Runs in the browser, connected to existing systems, and tested before handoff.

  • Documentation

For operation and ongoing development, handed over together with the application.

Working together

From problem to running application.

  1. Intro call

Goal, users, and existing systems: what problem should the application solve?

  2. Concept

Define scope, roles, and technology; after that, it’s clear what gets built first.

  3. Development

In stages that are usable early, so feedback flows straight in.

  4. Operation

On the company’s own infrastructure or on a server of its choice. Maintained by Katio Tech, or by the in-house IT team if preferred.

Questions

Quick answers.

Where do the applications run?

On servers in the region of the company’s choice: either in infrastructure that Katio Tech operates, or on a server owned by the company and managed by Katio Tech. Either way, the data belongs to the company, and Katio Tech signs a data processing agreement for it.

Custom or off-the-shelf software?

Off-the-shelf software fits when the process runs the way it does in many other companies. A custom application pays off when the team works around the software today: side lists, duplicate entries, manual reconciliation.

Are websites part of it?

Yes, from design to launch. Who maintains the content and installs updates afterward is settled before launch.

Who takes care of updates and security after launch?

Katio Tech, under a maintenance contract that covers updates, security, and further development. If the company’s own IT team should take over, it receives the application along with its documentation.

Who owns the source code?

The company receives the complete source code and the exclusive, unlimited right to use it, change it, and have others develop it further. General building blocks that Katio Tech also uses in other projects may be used permanently as well, but not exclusively.

What does an application cost?

Each application is priced individually, based on scope, connected systems, and the number of roles and special cases. Price and schedule are part of the quote after the intro call. Ongoing costs are hosting, domain, and maintenance.
